Hacienda El Carmen  Horseback  Tours
HISTORIC  WHISTLE  STOP HORSEBACK RIDE

2  hours .
 For  all levels of riders.
Begins at the Hacienda El Carmen stable area where your horses will be selected by your guide.
Ride out thru the small village of El Carmen .
After leaving the cobblestone lanes you will ride on and old wagon trail into the countryside viewing plantations of sugar cane, corn and Agave (plant from which tequila is made).
This trail is shaded by majestic Eucalyptus trees planted many years ago along this much traveled route to the whistle stop train station.
This railroad route named   ????  was active from  ????  to  ????  and the original rails are still found
 at the end of the road.
You will return to the hacienda on horseback .
This ride is a perfect introduction to this area where history may be relieved by those who visit.

El CAPORAL RIDE.

3 hours,
For beginner to advanced levels.
This ride was probably taken as routine by the foreman of the hacienda as he inspected the cane fields that surround the Hacienda El Carmen. Planted originally by the first inhabitants of the haciendas  sugar cane was the main crop sustaining the haciendas in this region.
Pastures with cattle, horses and other livestock are on the trail which finally arrives to a neighboring hacienda named La Labor de Rivera.  This hacienda is being restored to its original elegance and is actually   a working hacienda dedicated to the breeding, training and sale of Quarter horses of world class bloodlines.
You will dismount and may explore the haciendas expansive grounds , gardens
 and stables, and perhaps  see a  charro (Mexican cowboy ) training one of the many fine horses in the charro ring.  Remounted you will pass many pastures where fine mares and their foals frolic.
Again you will ride thru the cane fields  ending your ride at Hacienda El Carmen stables.

GUACHIMONTONES  ARCHIOLOGICAL DISCOVERY  RIDE.

5 HOURS,
For  intermediate to advanced level riders.
Starting at Hacienda El Carmen this ride travels thru the extensive cane fields and among pastures beyond which  breathtaking views of the mountains and Agave  plantations are seen
 Soon you will arrive to the beautiful little town named Agualulco where you will visit the museum to learn about the unique pyramids and their former inhabitants.
After visiting the museum you will ride up the mountain to the archeological site named Guachimontones  and visit  the ancient pyramids found there.
As you stroll thu this fascinating area you will observe the sweeping views of the lake and dam below as well as the surrounding countryside.
Later you will be taken for a tasty Mexican lunch in the town and then returned to the Hacienda El Carmen by van.

ROMANTIC  SUNSET RIDE.

Ride starts 2 hours before sunset.
For all levels of riders.
Enjoy  a perfect  evening ride !
A leisurely ride on a charming wagon road lined with stately trees .
Peaceful and relaxing  views of plantations and late afternoon activity in the countryside are presented as your ride and the evening progre
After arriving at the site of the original whistle stop, where passengers of yesteryear met or got off the train, you will return to the Hacienda El Carmen just before sunset dismounting at the stables .

A short stroll to a special place on the hacienda grounds especially selected for viewing the sunset where you will be served wine  or champagne and a selection of fine cheeses.
